And Then I Remembered...

When I was in primary school, there were art classes every week. I would be going home asking for potatoes, lady's fingers and what-nots for printing. Mommy would carve stars and heart shapes out of those vege and put them in a plastic bag the night before. The next day, the potatoes would turn brown, the lady's finger would be slimy and the smell! Ugggh...i can smell it while typing. But then, I was happily printing my drawing paper away, looking sideways, up front and behind for some inspiration ( It is called COPYING back then ). I never got an A for art. :D

And then I remembered, when drawing papers were no more. Art classes were not confined to paper but leaves, glue and ice cream sticks and alot more glue! I remembered my egg-shell scarecrow. How I pestered my aunt for a perfect empty egg-shell with just a hole as big as a chopstick's at the bottom of the egg so I could stand it up and dress it with a bottle.

And then I remembered the teacher asking us to bring wooden clothes pegs for art class the next day. We were doing a pen container! I only managed to glue 4 sides of the container with paper glue. Took it back home and showed to my daddy. He brought more clothes peg and settled my art work with Uhu! Ahhh The Morphin to my nose! XD I got an "A" for it. Hehe!

I remembered a WAU. What I did in school were incomparable to what my dad and I did in that weekend! He drew the biggest wau utilising a piece of manila card to the max and used a penknife to cut it out. My friends in school didnt have such big waus so I was pretty excited already! He bought 5 big packets of glitters (THEY ARE REALLY BIG PACKETS THAT I STILL STORE THEM IN MY BOX TILL TODAY! :D ) and starts putting glue on the sides of the wau. Then he poured gold glitters and let it rest. I was jumping up and down, asking daddy when are we gonna proceed to the next section of the wau! MY GAWD! Blogging about it makes me excited too!!!! XD

I remembered, it was the most beautiful, elegant, colourful looking wau in class. I remembered it very well. And no one can touch it, only SEE it. With my chest held high, I passed it up to the teacher and of course, I scored an A. ;)

I remembered a wooden kampung house, set in the student's art work shelf, where only the finest art works were displayed. We were supposed to build a house with ice cream sticks. Mommy bought back those larger sticks used by the dentist! Its was perfect! Then daddy started to saw out pieces of hard wood for the frame. He loves carpentry. He loves electronics. He loves handcrafts. When the frame is done, he stick the sticks, one by one till the perfect last piece. It was there for 2 years. And everytime I walked passed it, I couldnt help being proud of it and wanting to tell other students about it. Thank you Pa! :)

All those years...I dedicate my As, my pride, my happiness to you. :)

And then, I was in secondary school. We still had art classes. It was refined art, where we did different styles of painting and drawing, different texture of materials used. It was a lovely distraction after a day of Geography or Maths or boring boring Pendidikan Moral. I remembered my Pooh Bear. I did it with cotton and towel fabric. I remembered a craved clown with crayon-based drawing. I surprised daddy with my art work. :)
And then I remembered...I learnt the patience, the delicate nature, I learnt it all from daddy.

What Ive Been Up to

I am done with my internship first of all! Log book, the whole technical report, goodbyes and see yous! How would I sum up my internship you would ask... I'll say it was a mixture of perspiration, literally and metaphorically. 132kV to 240V, humming transformers, buzzing incoming feeder, freaking lots of relays everywhere I go. There are some parts of the factories some of you engineers dont ever get a chance to go hahaha!
( The writer is deliberately showing off :D )
I skipped on rooftops, posed with a stupid lightning arrester, captured a few shots of a dry shedded phython skin by an outdoor transformers...what else, see how copper wire are entwined into cables, how BMWs are assembled, umm... travelled from one state to another, a factory to another, had lunch and teas and have always eaten more than each of the boys, and did a lot of reading.

The other part of perspiration is this =.= '''
Since I am the only one from Venus in the gang of engineers, teasing is natural, or I would say an essential part of the joke of the day. Not that missy likes being tease with the most outrageous reasons in any given condition of any working time, it was all of good intentions, something to brighten up the working conditions. And the teasing doesnt stop after work. The company annual dinner was good. What is to complain with an international buffet at E&O in penang on a weeknight?
The grilled salmon was really delicious, the fresh salmon and cheese were not bad. The strawberries by the chocolate fondue were topped up non-stop and eager photographers were clicking away! What is not to like about it? :)
Oh did you know that missy thinks that guys who can rock a bald head are hot? XD

Internship comes and goes in 3 months.

And then a wedding popped up! Never in my wildest dreams I would be attending a dear friend's wedding at 23! Dressed up in silky golden dress with a glittery hairband, off I go to QE11 at penang port. The wedding set up was very easy-going, guests were free to walk around free flow wine and beer, chat at the bar, munch up all the lamp chop available and camwhore with the loveliest bride of the century!

And then there were countless gleeful meet-ups and birthdays and redboxxxx

What I enjoyed the most was the two unforgettable HOMESTAYS! Just by mentioning them, makes me smile! A loving home will never fail to impress, and the happiness emancipates outwards, like light attracting moths.
I love the fuzzy feeling of eating homecook, I love the pets, I love the children and the exchange of subtle, comfortable jokes. I might have gained too much attention from the kids but hey, it is just for a few days. Let their mommy take a rest! I walked no, run with a dog for the first time in my life. Ohhh how I love Goldie. She is so full of energy, so obedient, so ROUND!
I know there are new puppies and a set of guinea pigs waiting for me in my next trip! :D

Throwing Oranges, No?

It was Chap Goh Meh on our first year in university.

Nahh how could our gang throw oranges? Boys from all over the country in our university were in hot pursuit to get each and every one of us so why bother throwing? *wink*

5 of us crowded in one of the hostel rooms on that night when some nuthead suggested a brilliant activity for that night.

"Wei Im bored. I bet alot single guys are feeling depressed that they have to throw virtual oranges in their dorms...Lets entertain them tonight! Give me your coursemate's number! :DDDD

#Prank 1

So the first one is, lets call him Beanie since he loves wearing beanie to class!

" Hey hottie~ Are you feeling lonely tonight? "

*the whole room starts to giggle silently*

" Err... "

" I am lonely too~ Do you wanna have a chat with me? "

" Err hello? Who are you? "

" I do not know you, but we can be friends...Im lonelyyyy"

*the girls were gagging their mouth to block the uncontrollable laughter*

" Err...*silence* "

" Dont wanna be friends then Bye~ "

*The caller has to end the call as she herself couldnt be seductive any longer! SO FARNY! *

The whole room just cracked up, laughing hysterically! XD

After the first one, there is no need of a push to do the second prank. Next number, next member. And the rest are in Mandarin.

#Prank 2

Lets call him Sunny for this one.

" Hello Im from Triumph Mahkota Parade. I have received an order for Triump Lace Set. Can i confirm with you your address? "

" HAH? I didnt order la "

" Is your name Sunny? An order has been bought and paid for. Is it for your girlfriend?"

" HAH?? I really didnt order. Is it really paid for? Then I'll take it. "

"Can you tell me which colour you want? Black Lace or Red Lace?"

" Err one red and one black set la"

" What about the size? "

"HAH?????"

" I am asking you what size is your girlfriend. If not, I'll send 38C okay? "

" haha err okay "

" Okay. Address please. And you will expect delivery in 3 days. Thank you. "

Free triumph delivery? YEAAA Dream On~

#Prank 3

Lets call him Banana.

Caller scream in distress, " Why did you left me at the road side? "

" Hello? HUH? "

" You left me a the road side after fighting with me! Are you human? "

" I do not know you "

" Dont pretend you bad guy! I have to walk home myself! "

" I think you call the wrong number miss"

" This is not the wrong number! Irresponsible! IM BREAKING UP WITH YOU CHOU NAN REN! "

I guess this is the first time he got yelled by a distressed woman in Mandarin! XD

#Prank 4

" Hello, I am lonely. May I be your friend? "

" How did you get my number? "

"I got it from the Dating Agency. Can we talk? "

" But I didnt submit my name. "

" Its okay. My name is Lacy. Can we be friends? "

" Oh okay... So how old are you? "

" Younger than you 2 years :) "

*the conversation goes on and the girl asked to meet up and the guy agreed and then it got pretty serious and the prank was called off*

#Prank 5

This is in Canto! Lets call him Tough Guy!

" Hello! Good day! So I have received your order for a pack of condoms. Is this Tough Guy? "

" HAHA! Dont play la! Whos this? "

" I am doing business here. What size condom do you want? "

" OI dont play la. Who is this??? haha!!"

" We have a special edition Glow In the Dark condoms. Do you want it? "

" HAHAHAHA! SIAO. Okay okay! I want. "

" Okay Sir. So we will send you a box of XXL Glow In The Dark condoms. Thank you."

So the pranks ended with teary, red faced girls in the starry night of Chap Goh Meh! :D

Soft Fur, Soft Purr

Introducing COCO.

Introducing COCO's BUTT! OOps!

She likes lying on the bed, looking out to the window for stupid birds which always try to fly through the window.

I grew very attached to her when I was visiting my best friend at her hometown. She would come into the room early in the morning, meowing everyone to wake up! *love*
And when I dont wake up when she meows at 6am, she jumps up my bed and curls on the side of my bed, sleeping together with ME! :DDDDD *misses*loves*smiles*

She is so so furry and she keeps herself so clean every day. Her mmmeows makes me grow soft like toufoooo~
How I yearn to just hide her in my luggage and sneak her back to Malacca!

I smsed my daddy I'd wanna get a pet doggie when I work next time. This is what he replied.

"NO cats allowed and dont talk about dogs, cats or even fishes. Strictly prohibited and possible penalty impose if found when working."

"Pa, a guinea pig?"

He didnt reply.

Every Cloud Has Its Silver Linings

Into the second week of my internship. It was kinda disastrous this morning. The whole office was deserted, most of the engineers have gone all the way to Danau Toba under the company's holiday scheme and those who stayed back were out to work. I even locked myself in the office to keep myself safe, not that anyone would wanna kidnap a fully grown Ursula LOL

Lunch turned out to be great actually. The assistant manager took us out, drive all the way to Autocity and we feasted on a complete japanese cuisine!

Bento, warm green tea, fruits, miso soup, and a scoop of a nutmeg blended ice cream.

It was a treat! :D

Mommy smsed me too. She doesnt sms. She takes 5-10mins just to send a text but she messaged me to keep me entertained! MY MOM IS JUST SO ADORABLE!

PS: Or am I good in whining about how free and ignored I feel in the office? :D

Friday night is TONIGHT. 3 hours from now! HAHA! And I think I am not scheduled to work tomorrow *WINKIES*

*peace sign*

We Fly Before We Walk

And we did. It took us near to an hour to check-in although we were the first at the counter.

“ Our MAS software engineer says the system is down ”.

Yeah hear it? MAS. Malaysian Airlines. I tell you what, change your engineers.

At the boarding area, we waited again. Our flight was delayed an hour. Perhaps flights are affected by the recent weather changes. It rained near cny and caused floods in South Malaysia.

Seats were colourful, pilot was a scrawny uncle, the rendang with nasi tomato was edible. When my sister asked for a cup of coffee and a set of scrabble, the latter request made the stewardess scrunch her face like a fortune cookie lol

We touched down and headed to MAMA.

MAMA was my nanny, my aunt, my story teller, my cute huggable barney, my solace when I was little. I have not seen her in 3 years and I really do miss her dearly. Rushing inside the house, she called out my name loud and clear and I just couldn’t help giving her squashing huggies and kisses! *love*

My cousin has a newborn and the little girl was all smiles. Daddy was carrying her all around the house. You know how it feels like to be cuddled in your daddy’s secure arms. . . *smiling*

Trying to get a cab for 5 pax wasn’t easy around 9pm. It was dinner time for most cab drivers I guess. My cousin was stopping cabs on the road and my petite ah soh was calling cab companies, and at last, we ended up with. . .

LOL

We had a licking good dinner and MAMA is as bubbly big as usual! Thank you so much Gor Gor and Ah Soh! J

We Come, We See, We Conquer!

Red and blue roller coaster rails, twisted and daunting looking

State of the art theme park with lush greenery

Colourful gift stores with fascinated kids running around

Hanging lollipops from trees

2 litres of Hersheys chocolate

Rabbits made of

roses, carnations and sunflowers

A Globe in the middle of a fountain which bores “Universal Studios”

*Living a dream of a 5year old boy. . .*

The tickets were bought 2 weeks beforehand. It was a long awaited trip and we spent a total of 6 hours in there ;)

*Hollywood City*

Lights, Camera, Action is the main attraction. Not knowing what was installed in the studio, we blindly went in and were welcomed by a chirpy young lady who had us briefed about what to expect when we step into another studio.

Little did we know that we were about to experience a hurricane by the sea, in the building itself! Billowing wind, crashing boats, gas tankers exploding, water splashes. . . ohhh and the 3D tsunami as background! The experience kept us awed and we were anticipating for the next adventure already

*Egyptian City*

Return of the Mummy is THE Roller Coaster ride of this city. Well, for me! Read on to find out! *grinning* At the entrance, we have been warned that it is a high speed ride and loose items must be kept off the ride. Then we started out for the path to THE roller coaster. You know how your adrenaline rushes through your veins, your brains, your feet when you are going to ride on THE roller coaster!!!! I just love the sensation when the coaster JOLTS in front to create enough momentum! It was quite a walk to the coaster, as they have decorated the path with mummies, sphinx, sandy beings and cravings. It was a 5X4 coaster and the ride begannnnnnnnnnnnn. . .

It started off winding and slow, telling you a story about how the Mummy returns to get revenge and we are at his mercy. The drawings and laser cravings are magnificient, with dry ice effects. And then the coaster came to a halt right in front of the wall. We were waiting for it to open and anticipated a thunderous start but, the coaster stop dead and jolted in REVERSE direction, DOWN in the dark, DOWN again then SWERVE at full speed and STOP! The Mummy crackled and continued his taunt, he casted a spell and the ceiling went on fire, hot steaming fire, with blood oozing from the edge and we go DOWN again in any imaginable speed! In the dark! The tunnel is so cold, you grip tight onto the railings, swearing that you don’t wanna die if this coaster ever hit the tunnel in any way because it is super dooooper HIGH SPEED and they aren’t kidding when they say high speed. . .

It was superb! *THUMBS UP ;D*

*Far Far Away Land*

Shrek 3D in a beautiful pinkish castle is the attraction. We were being brought into the cinema with 3D glasses, just like any other cinema, we enjoyed the story till. . . we could feel the donkey sneezes on our faces LOL We practically got wet from so many splurts of water throughout the movie! It felt like Holy Water in Constantine. . . ;P

*Madagascar*

I love the quartlet! I love Alex, I love Marty, I love Merman, I love Gloria! I love their friendship. Four of them have their very own cafes in Madagascar and we went to Marty’s, Casa de Blanca. The food is delicious, surprisingly in a theme park. No, we weren’t hungry when we ate, and when I say it is delicious, mark my words J

Jurassic Park fans will get a chance to dine in their restaurant, something like in the movie. They have their own roller coaster where your feet will be dangling during the ride and they have a water-slide-cum-hydroelectric-plant where you will be drenched!

Oh ya, we saw an enormous Kungfu Panda mascot walking around! His belly is twice the size of a door! Too bad we didn’t have a chance to take pictures with him. We are fans of him! Daddy has Panda’s song as his ringtone by the way! *grinning*

We went home feeling content, and even more satisfied when we had one of the best reunion dinner in Singapore! It was just an ordinary steamboat dinner but it meant more when you dine with people whom you called Relatives, and being loved and appreciate like Relatives. . . Happy Bunny Year everyone! :)

*Shop Till You Drop*

I am in love with this place oh man...

For those who like trendy, cheap, colourful shopping, here is PARADISE!

There is a mall right opposite Bugis Street called Bugis Junction. I was particularly fond of a gift shop, where they have this miniature apple-shaped speakers! They are something like these. . .

The quality is really impressive and it is priced $29.90. There is also a puppy coinbox, where the puppy will paw your coin into the box when you place coins on the tray. And they do have those Japanese scarf where you could wear it as a jacket, a skirt, a dress and any way you like it! It comes with a beautiful box with a complimentary How-To-Wear-It CD, priced at $35 per box. It would be a wonderful gift from me for Mommy but Mommy wouldn’t use it often so she declined J

Next stop, Orchard Road! The lights, the ornaments along the road, the pathways, it is all SopHistiCation! It is all bLing bLiNg! It is what Me like. *love*

Orchard Road is one whole stretch of shopping malls, where you could just hold hands with your special someone and strolled through the glitz and glamour, and stop occasionally to oogle at Gucci heels and Versace dresses HAHA

There is one red haWT building at Orchard bearing ‘Singapore Information Centre’ and we went in there to get a leg massage, for free. Yup it is for real. That place has plushy cushions with brochures of every kind in Singapore. The shopping started at mid day and we retired home near midnight. Taking buses and switching LRTs and then walking several blocks home. The Walk was indeed so different from my life in Penang. Daddy was exceptionally protective of us when taking public transport, Mommy was constantly grabbing us when the bus lurched forward, we were always running to catch the incoming LRT, or dashing across the road and keeping our EzLink card safely in our pockets! It is tiring but the feeling of walking everywhere with your loved ones, going places. . . is awesome. . .

Oh yeah this is my first fortune cookie in Singapore! I'll leave the interpretion to you. *winkies*

The Climbing Einstein

Anyone who has been to Singapore Science Centre would have noticed the cute, dusty Einstein. Anyway, the Little Einsteins in the movie ‘Night In the Museum’ are more adorable hehe!

We took a bus there and I couldn’t help noticing that uniforms impose a respectable authority in Singapore, be it immigration officers or bus drivers, or even LRT conductors. Those in uniforms are strict, at the same time they are polite and very courteous. At SIA, the whole stretch of immigration counter looks majestic! And the uniforms make them look even more formidable. I held out my passport and I got an obligatory smile and nod, and two energetic “THUD THUD” on the documents! In contrary, the Malaysian Customs in uniform show you their buLLDog faces, looking over your passport with near boredom! Why do I even bother smiling that time?

No No...those bulldogs aint as cute as these two adoooooorable creatures *MMWAH* :)

Back to science centre. It is something like PetroScience in KLCC but cheaper. It is only $9 per entrance. As usual, the design of a science centre is children-friendly and you could hear PONG BONG CLANK TING TIANG aHHHH MOMMYYYY at every corner, instead of silent reading and occasional soft clutter of scientific models to satisfy the curious mind and hands. At the other side, there was an on-going CSI Experience where you have to pay another $20 to go in. There were a total of 4 crime scenes mimicked according to real cases and we were required to solve them. The whole experience was more for early teens, but mommy and daddy who are always a good sport tagged along, joining the packed sardine crowd with the DNA strips and touch screens data. This is one of the report that we have to complete at the end of every investigation.

The whole trip in Singapore was an incredible journey, will look forward to more trips down South next time round! ;) Or maybe across the South China Sea, into the wonders of beautiful salt foundations! *grinning*
